Victory University was established in 1944 as the Central South Bible Center. Soon after, the institution became the Central South Bible College, offering non-student education courses and a one-year basic Bible course. In 1958, a four-year Bible university program was launched, and in 1960, the institution was renamed the Central South Bible College. In 1971, the institution was certified by the Bible Higher Education Association. The agency continued to develop and began implementing a teacher education program in 1982 to “let Christians and men teach in school”. In 1986, with the increase in the social and natural sciences, education and music professions, the institution was accredited by the Southern Institute and School Association. In 1987, the agency changed its name to Clayton College to commemorate the long-term president James B. Clayton who died in 1984.
